Forklift Operator Job at Hood Lumber

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS
- We are looking for a skilled Forklift Driver who has experience with operation of tractor size/heavy equipment. We operate a safe, facility and consider safety our top priority, so we are looking for a professional whose values reflect our own. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transports lumber safely around mill with forklift.
- Follows safety regulations and company guidelines.
- Position requires working evening hours and weekends.
- Documents forklift inspection before shift start up for mechanical safely and compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Inspects vehicle regularly and notifies supervisor maintenance is needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting production shifts with other staffing needs when not operating forklift.
- Perform safety checks on equipment and communicate to supervisor any issues found.
- If needed may hand stack lumber to create a proper bundle of lumber.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Our forklifts are the size of a tractor and, thus, prior but recent experience driving a forklift in a production/industrial environment is required (Minimum 2 years’ experience). Preference will be given to those who have recent experience moving/stacking heavy, bulky items (like 16' lumber packs).- Previous OSHA Training a PLUS
- Dedicated to safe work practices
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
