Flinn Scientific, the industry leader in enabling science teachers to educate young minds in both the US and Canada, is seeking a First Shift Forklift Operator. You will hold an important role in our company by being part of a dynamic, hardworking team that impacts the growth of Flinn by manufacturing products that go directly to our customers. You will work closely with other ‘go-getter’ team members to transport, store and distribute products within our warehouse environment in an organized manner. You will have a direct influence and ability to make a difference within the science community as our organization continues to grow.

Big Picture View

You will be responsible for transporting, picking, storing, and distributing products within warehouse. Using RF scanners to pick bulk for production orders as well as utilizing pallet jack equipment, carts and/or forklifts are a central part of this role.

The General Warehouse Associate – Day-to-Day

• You will have the opportunity to learn many assignments and tasks regular intervals in the following areas of the warehouse: Picking, Packing, Truck Loading, Stocking / Replenishment, Receiving, and Inventory Control.
• You will conveys materials and items from production areas to storage or to other departments and locations utilizing a variety of warehouse equipment such as forklift (stand up), order picker, motorized pallet jacks, pallet jacks and hand trucks, carts, etc.
• You will sort and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to bar code storage system as well as open boxes, cartons and other containers and examine stock to verify product matches product on shelf and is properly labeled.
• Use RF equipment and / or voice directed equipment to accurately record product location and enter storage records.
• You will maintain inventory in orderly and organized manner.

What You Bring to the Team

• Ability to be flexible and transition from task to task and department to department
• 6 months of warehouse experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, SOP’s and work orders.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other lift equipment upon successful completion of training.
• Understanding of inventory control systems: bar coding, bin locations, inventory moves.
• Ability to consistently meet productivity, attendance and quality standards while working in a safe and organized manner.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Possesses above average mathematical skills including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as well as compute rate, ratio, and percent while using a calculator.

What You Need to be Successful

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Six months to a year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Forklift certification is preferred. Must complete pre-employment background screening.

• Ability to stand the majority of the work day
• Wear appropriate safety shoes and other personal protective equipment where necessary
• Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands & fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
• Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. You will regularly lift and/or move 30-50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 150 pounds with assistance
• The warehouse temperature fluctuates with outside temperatures. Manufacturing/Warehouse environment and while facility is heated it is not air-conditioned.
