What this job is about:
As a forecast and research analyst, you will support the Washington State Traffic Records Integration Program (TRIP). You’ll provide technical support as we develop TRIP, conduct research and analysis on relevant traffic safety topics, and respond to stakeholder requests.

The vision of Washington’s Traffic Records Committee is that, “Washington will have integrated electronic traffic records access systems that enable the discovery of life-saving strategies by providing users with quality traffic records data when, where, and in the form they need it”.
Based in the Forecasting and Research Division, we provide high-quality data and objective analyses on key issues that affect the state budget and policy development. This includes developing budget driver analyses and forecasts and conducting statewide economic research that supports fiscal planning and policy decisions.

Duties
What you’ll be doing:
Develop data sharing and research agreements within the TRIP portfolio. All data sharing agreements must align with our security and confidentiality requirements.- Work with the Washington State Institutional Review Board (WSIRB), TRIP data partners, and TRIP staff to develop materials for our WSIRB data repository, and research submissions including applications and confidentiality agreements.
- Analyze completeness and quality across data sets to develop data validation, quality reports.
- Identify critical research and policy issues and research the state and federal policies impact.
- Evaluate data sources and analyze topics related to traffic safety. Identify and use appropriate statistical methods, research methods and statistical software to analyze TRIP data.
- Communicate complex data and analysis to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Network and represent the TRIP at conferences. Make presentations and maintain regional affiliations with other research organizations.
- Work with stakeholders to identify specific populations, characteristics, and dates for completing analysis.
Qualifications
Required:
Master’s degree in a social science, statistics, public health or related discipline.- Three or more years of professional experience conducting research and analyses.
- At least one year of professional experience using statistical software such as SAS or R.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills orally and in writing.
- Doctoral degree in a social science, statistics, public health or related field discipline.
- Expert knowledge of SAS.
- Experience providing data governance.
