Role Summary

Provide direction to supervisors and employees to ensure plant efficiency, quality, and safety goals are met per the objectives of the organization. Ensure documentation is followed up on in a timely fashion per the UAW agreement. Perform any duties or take responsibility for any job description of non-union salaried staff members when instructed. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily daily. Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the foam department under the guidance of the Operations Manager.
  • Work closely with supervisors to provide guidance in dealing with routine personnel issues and disciplinary problems on all shifts.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of all shifts (crew’s) whenever the plant is in operations, and must be willing to respond and or react to the needs of the team. Either thru phone call, text messages or coming into the plant, base on situation.
  • Work with the Foam Supervisors to ensure all employees have a safe environment that is free of hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions.
  • Hold supervisors accountable for enforcing safety rules, policies, and procedures and make sure they are being consistently applied.
  • Review all reports of accidents or injuries in a timely manner, and make sure unsafe acts or conditions are corrected.
  • Hold supervisor’s accountable for the plant’s health and safety performance and conduct adequate performance appraisals by evaluating the supervisor’s safety performance and follow-up.
  • Responsible for meeting with the team (on all shifts) and provide updates on any developments within the department or company.
  • Manage and update all department metric files and update operations Manager as scheduled.
  • Hold supervisor’s accountable for shift performance based on departments objectives. Measured by scrap, downtime, FTT, utilization, OEE, labor efficiency, and productivity.
  • Communicate and respond effectively with our internal and external customers in addressing any needs or concerns they have.
  • Use Data to drive improvements and actions in the department.
  • Maintain and report out Magna Merit Monthly results to team.
  • Prepare slides for AEM monthly and report out during meeting.
  • Responsible and accountable for the Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) results.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years supervisory experience in a related manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.
  • Excellent verbal communicator at all levels and with different sizes of audiences is essential.
  • Ability to reason and make sound judgement calls in the face of adversity.
  • Must be able to interface with all departments.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Additional Information

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Take an active part in the plant safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, conducting safety talks in departmental meetings, and assist in meeting or exceeding plant safety goals.
  • Display a positive attitude towards safety and lead by example that will result in a safe and healthful workplace for all who work at Louisville Seating Systems.
  • Ensures that the principles of the Magna Employee Charter, Corporate Constitution and Operational Principles are practiced, supported, and reinforced.
  • Ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental standards are adhered to in accordance to the Magna Charter and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Administers and ensures compliance with the Quality and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals.
  • Any other duties as established by the Operations Manager.
