Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to contribute to providing a safe, clean, and comfortable living and learning environment in the residence halls and other student life areas of the University of North Carolina Asheville.
This position would assist in various operations within the residence halls and student life areas. The primary responsibilities would include floor care, furniture setups & care, supervision of student employees, and assisting with waste management. Floor care roles include stripping and finishing floors, spot cleaning and deep cleaning of carpets, and repairs of carpet/other flooring.
The position will also provide assistance with some housekeeping and light maintenance duties.
This position is highly visible throughout the department and the University. This position interacts on a frequent basis with students, staff, faculty, and visitors of the University. All Housing and Student Life Operations staff are expected to represent the department and university well in these interactions.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience in housekeeping and/or floor care in educational setting. Extensive knowledge & experience in maintaining all floor types including carpets and tile is preferred. Knowledge and experience with furniture repair, setups, moving, and cleaning is desired.
Work Schedule and Hours
Work hours may vary depending on department and University needs. Primary hours will be Monday – Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Flexible hours are occasionally required including some earlier mornings, evenings, and weekends due to nature of position and will be coordinated with supervisor in advance.
