This is a temporary position that may last up to 6 months.
Summary
The seasonal Fisheries Technicians will be part of the Eastside Biological Services at the Pelton Round Butte Complex outside. This department is comprised of fisheries and terrestrial biologists, and several technicians.
These positions will mainly be focused on smolt outmigration at the Selective Water Withdrawal, from processing fish 7 days/week and hauling them daily to the lower Deschutes River at the Re-regulating Dam and releasing them into the newly constructed Stress Relief Pond. These roles play a critical part in completing our FERC license compliance at Pelton Round Butte.
Key Responsibilities

  • Process juvenile collection facility daily
  • Identify, mark, and enumerate a variety of fish species
  • Assist with PIT tagging of outmigration smolts
  • Transport smolts downriver and release into holding tank
  • Download and maintain radio-fixed stations in the upper Deschutes basin
  • Conduct Spawning surveys above and below the Pelton Round Butte project
  • Assist personnel with hauling and transport of acclimation smolts

Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Related college course work preferred in fisheries or aquatic science.
Experience: Typically, two or fewer years, in a related field preferred.
License: Valid driver’s license required.
