Job Summary:
This position requires previous offshore experience. This person will inspect work area for hydrocarbon containing vessels, combustible and flammable material. Utilizing electronic gas monitoring device inspect around vessels, valves, flanges and drain openings for presence of flammable gases. Erect tarps around work area to shield hydrocarbon-containing vessels within 35’ of work area, wash skids and plug drains.
Specific knowledge and skills required:
The ability to perform and act professionally as outlined in the standards of Safety Management Systems.
The ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with a good knowledge of Industry terminology.
The ability to act professionally with other employees, employees of other companies and trades.
Excellent knowledge of company policy and procedures and the ability to perform to those standards.
The ability to operate simplistic electronic equipment; i.e., gas monitor, computer, handheld radios.
Must be willing to work in an offshore environment.
Educational requirements:
Completion of High School education with successful graduation or Graduation Equivalency Diploma. At least first responder trained or has the ability to complete a first responder course.
- Must meet and fulfill the medical qualifications, requirements, functions and responsibilities of a First Responder.
- Inspection of work area to ensure it is free of hydrocarbons, combustible and/or flammable material.
- Conducts daily bump test, when required by client, of gas detector to ensure it is working properly.
- Erects tarps or fire proof blankets around work area when hydrocarbon containing vessels are within 35’ of work area..
- Clean and plug skids to ensure gases from sump does not enter work area.
