About the Position:
If you can successfully manage multiple tasks with ease, meet deadlines, and maintain complex clerical standards, while exercising independent judgement and initiative, this is the perfect job for you! In this position you will provide phenomenal customer service via telephone, email, and in-person. You will be involved in programs and projects which make a difference every day to the residents of Cedar Rapids.

Position Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Salary: $20.49 hourly to commensurate with experience

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check, physical examination (if applicable) and drug screen are required prior to employment with the City of Cedar Rapids.
The City of Cedar Rapids does not offer sponsorship for employment authorization.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Performs time-sensitive daily and periodic financial transaction processing.
  • Uploads financial transaction files to financial institutions after performing required reconciliation and verification steps.
  • Maintains detailed Standard Operating Procedures for a broad variety of tasks and transaction processes.
  • Trains backup resources to perform all processing tasks and coordinates ongoing refresh training for the backup resources.
  • Develops knowledge and understanding of the Financial System regarding customer information, billing, payments and collections.
  • Collects and enters appropriate information into the Financial System.
  • Gathers, assembles, updates, distributes, files and/or enters a variety of information and data.
  • Performs professional and confidential administrative duties as assigned in support of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll.
  • Listens to and responds appropriately to requests, questions and concerns from customers.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Required Education and Experience
  • An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • One (1) to three (3) years’ experience of clerical or administrative experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
