The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a Facilities Manager (TE4) in Union Gap, WA. This position manages the South-Central Region Facility program and initiates, prioritizes, and directs the building maintenance needs for the SCR. It is responsible for approximately 380,000 square feet, 137 buildings, on 52 different sites by providing routine and emergent maintenance on SCR facilities, it ensures that employees work in a safe, adequately functioning facility in which to perform their job. It is responsible for a budget of approximately $4,000,000 funding 10 full-time employee's performing various maintenance repair and construction functions. This position supports the agencies goals of Workforce Development, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, (DEI), and Resilience.

What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:


  • Receive, prioritize, and determine course of action on requests for facility work.
  • Assign and supervise the performance of facility maintenance work.
  • Utilize the Computerize Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Archibus.
  • Keep an inventory of facilities equipment and systems.
  • Create schedules for the performance of preventive maintenance.
  • Assign facility service requests to employees.
  • Monitor and update the status of service requests.
  • Answer questions and report to HQ on the status of service requests.
  • Provide notice to employees regarding work activities, impacts to their normal day-to-day business and potential safety hazards.
  • Oversee SCR Facility Security Systems and responsible for a custodial staff for scheduled regular cleanings of facilities.
  • This position splits time between office setting, conference rooms, and worksites in the field.
Important Note
  • Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 357-16-197 mandates that all employees who work for executive cabinet agencies (which includes the Department of Transportation) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.   • In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position. Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in Facility Management, Maintenance, and Repair or estimating, preparing, and delivering construction projects.
  • Four (4) years’ experience managing performance and measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of Operations and Maintenance, Construction, and Management practices.
  • Knowledge of Policies, Directives, Executive Orders, and Business Plans.
  • Knowledge of large budget preparation, management, and delivery.
  • Knowledge of the WAC's, RCW's and other statures that affect facilities.
  • Ability to use computers and other electronic devices for communications with specific skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, CMMS, CADD or drawing programs.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.
  • Ability to implement change.
  • Skills to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of contractors, employees, technicians, and managers.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have:
  • Five (5) years’ experience in facilities management, engineering, architecture, or construction management
Or
  • Five (5) years’ experience in preparation, inspection, and administration of facilities or construction contracts
