Job Summary / Purpose
Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture of QatarEnergy & ExxonMobil, has an exciting opportunity in Engineering at our Sabine Pass, TX location (approximately 10 minutes from Port Arthur, TX). We are looking for team members that have a proven track record of providing support, have strong intrapersonal and communication skills, and are self-motivated and self-directed to be a part of our transformation from an import facility to the premier LNG exporter in North America.
The LNG Facilities Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Golden Pass Export / Import Terminal Facilities, Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) Stabilization & Liquefaction Trains, and Pipeline Facilities. This person will provide the following support to the Golden Pass Functions:
Operations: Provide day to day support for surveillance, management of change, and optimization of facilities.
Maintenance & Projects: Support development and implementation of maintenance activities or project implementation.
Safety & Environmental: Providing guidance to ensure operations comply with company policies and provide technical support for completion of Safety / Environmental calculations or studies.
Essential Duties / Functions
- Support Asset Leadership in Operations, and Engineering teams on optimization strategies, facilities modification, engineering, and operational risk based decisions. Support both LNG Terminal and Pipeline Asset Leadership Teams.
- Opportunity Generation & Management of Change: development of recommendations to management for initiatives or projects to optimize production, improve reliability, reduce costs and/or prevent future problems. Coordinate concept finalization and scope of work development to be able to hand over to an executing organization (Project or Maintenance). If not leading a change, support the relevant function (Operations, Maintenance, etc.) in evaluation of the technical details of the change and completion of required analysis prior to implementation.
- Assure that the design of equipment used in the facility is in accordance with good engineering practices, applicable industry codes/standards and consistent with the company’s business needs
- Support LNG Terminal and Pipeline facility models (Hysis, etc.) & other advanced tools for facility process analysis as appropriate
- Facilitate analysis of bad actors, bottleneck identification, issue management
- Provides technical expertise and assists with training other engineers by providing instruction on technologies and engineering calculations
- Capable of assimilating new technologies and methods
- Design and carry out tests in the interest of enhancing production or solving process problems
- Develop process basis, preliminary estimates, and schedules for project design scopes
- Cold Eyes participation in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) utilizing, what if, and Hazard and Operability Review (HAZOP) methodologies
- Participate on and lead incident investigation teams.
- Participate in regulatory agency audits
- Support procedure development and training related to projects, temporary or new modes of operation, and compliance
- Work with Engineering Supervisor & Manager, to define problems, establish work scopes, prepare task budgets and schedules, plan work, provide technical direction, and report the work status to management
- Reinforce safety and environmental awareness through frequent job observations and by interfacing with plant personnel
- Work with Engineering and Construction department to assure O&M interests are represented on major projects
- Interact with and support Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and other departments as required.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering
Minimum experience required of the position:
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience:
- Within an LNG terminal and/or petrochemical/gas processing facilities
- Develop or Optimize and Implement Facility Surveillance Programs for LNG Plant
Minimum of 5 years of experience in:
- Facility Modeling (Hysis, etc.) & Analysis
- Understanding the principles of fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and hydrocarbon process chemistry
- Familiar with the hazards of hydrocarbon processes and the methods used to keep process facilities safe
- Major Facility Turnaround Planning & Support Experience
- Project Development & Scoping Activities
- Contractor Interface & Management
- Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations and their implementation in operating facilities
- Able to identify applicable industry and regulatory codes, interpret them, and apply them to projects and engineering analysis
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading Risk and Safety Analysis (HAZOPs, etc.)
