Job Title: Expeditor/Buyer
Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Location: Bedford, MA

Position Summary

The job of Expediter/Buyer is done for the purpose of purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, services, and supplies from vendors; procuring assigned product lines; recommending bid awards; identifying products, which will enhance efficiency, effectiveness and safety of operations.

Job Function:

• Administers bidding process and contracts for vendor performance/compliance (e.g. prepare specifications, evaluate bids, recommend vendors, etc.) for the purpose of securing items and/or services
• Assists staff and vendors for the purpose of providing information and facilitating purchasing process.
• Evaluates, purchases and contract agreements for the purpose of ensuring compliance

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in the management of purchasing logistics (Purchasing, Planning, Receiving, Shipping, Stockrooms and Warehouses);
• Issuance of purchase orders, vendor communications, and placement of orders;
• Identifying and implementing purchased part cost reductions; assuring that actual purchase price performance is in line with purchased price standards;
• Assist in ensuring purchasing department compliance to ISO, company policies and procedures;
• Regular interaction with Management, communicating status of milestones and impact of technical hurdles;

Education / Qualifications:

• Technical or Associates Degree in Business, or 5+ years related experience;
• 5+ years in Purchasing and Materials planning logistics;
• 2+ years in leadership role;
• Excellent Project Management and organizational skills;
• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
