The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio), in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine seeks an individual with an outstanding record of operational leadership, clinical excellence, research and educational achievement, and faculty/trainee recruitment and mentoring as its Executive Director of NCI-designated Mays Cancer Center. Dynamic leadership, clear communication, strong interpersonal skills, high personal values, and a keen strategic vision are crucial characteristics required for success. Reporting to the President of UT Health San Antonio, the Executive Director will be responsible for continuing to build superb clinical and research programs, high quality graduate and undergraduate medical education, within a collegial and interactive culture. The Executive Director oversees the cancer research, education and clinical care of the University.
Candidates must have an MD, and academic experience consistent with eligibility for full Professor with tenure. They must be board-certified in their respective professional board with documented superb clinical skills. The ideal candidate will have a widely recognized national reputation in oncology as well as extensive financial management experience in both research and clinical operations. The ability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability across the Health Science Center is important.
