The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Collaborative Policing spearheads the Departments new youth strategies efforts, identifies opportunities for public and private partnerships, and closely collaborates with other city agencies toward the mission of public safety. To accomplish this mission of public safety. To accomplish this mission, the unit is continuously developing non-enforcement options for police officers, designing creative and focused community-based strategies, and improving access to police services.
The selected Executive Agency Counsel will:
Provide legal services, guidance and advice to the Deputy Commissioner of Collaborating Policing on various legal matters.
Prepare and review complex legal documents related to Memorandums of Understanding and letters of Support.
Prepare and negotiate difficult and complex grants, contracts, issues, transactions and documents.
Analyze federal, state, and local laws, statutes and regulations.

Minimum Qual Requirements
Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work.
Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.

Preferred Skills
Demonstrate experience in legal research, writing, and litigation.
Demonstrated ability to understand the provisions of federal and state civil laws and legal interpretations by federal and state courts.
Superb interpersonal skills, including building cross-functional partnerships and ability to influence and drive change through collaboration.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with the public, government agencies, and agency staff on legal matters.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to understand the provisions of federal and state civil laws and legal interpretations by federal and state courts.
