Position Summary
Erie-GAINS Community Engagement student work positions are rewarding positions that involve interaction with on and off-campus community partners. Training and direction is provided by a supervisor. Work is completed as part of a team or independently. Duties and responsibilities may include:
1. Create ideas and assist the supervisor with promoting community and university events sponsored by Erie-GAINS, Community, and Government Relations.
2. Provide support for public relation opportunities including the use of social media, news releases and other options.
3. Process volunteer request inquiries received through EngageU.
3. With some support from the supervisor, organize storage areas and supplies.
4. Assist in ordering, receiving, stocking and distributing office supplies.
5. Greets and directs visitors taking complete messages when appropriate.
6. Assists with office related duties such as photocopying, filing, collating
7. Coordinate, with little supervision, routine portions of community projects such as Gannon Goodwill Garden work, Strong Vincent Middle School projects, sorting and distributing books for the Little Free Libraries and other community based projects.

1. Must be cordial, friendly, dependable and able to communicate effectively.
2. Must be able to arrive for scheduled work hours promptly and contact a supervisor of a conflict arises.
3. The ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, faculty, community partners and students. Skills include listening, nonverbal communication, clarity and concise verbal communication.
4. Must be able to limit personal cell phone usage and, when necessary, keep conversations short and quiet.
