The Equipment Reliability Specialist will report to the Manager-Planned Maintenance and will be primarily responsible for assisting with asset reliability risks and asset failure prevention using condition monitoring for the global fleet of offshore drilling vessels. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with various rig specific projects and acting as a liaison between rigs, vendors, customers, and regulators by providing guidance/recommendations for asset management related initiatives.
Responsibilities::Primary Responsibilities:
The Equipment Reliability Specialist may:
- Knowledgeable and skilled with mechanical equipment & systems (hydraulics, rotating equipment, pumps, valves)
- Optimize equipment preventative maintenance routines & ensure alignment of these activities with regulatory guidance and corporate performance objectives
- Improve the reliability of equipment by implementing preventative maintenance routines & strategies based upon the principles of reliability engineering & continuous improvement
- Advance functionality and reliability of systems based on evaluation of performance using historical trend data
- Participate in building, installing, commissioning, and monitoring the repairs/upgrades being made to rig equipment located at approved repair / fabrication facilities
- Assist with scheduling and executing reliability related projects (may involve temporarily relocating to job sites, both domestic and international)
- Liaise between rigs and vendors for various system upgrades, installations, and commissioning
- Assist Engineering department with the selection and installation of equipment condition monitoring and reporting equipment as requested
- Participate in performing risk assessments on various condition-based maintenance techniques and / or asset management maintenance strategy changes relating to condition-based maintenance initiatives
- Training personnel and others in company philosophy, policy and procedures related to equipment reliability and condition assessment
- Work in a team environment across multiple departments to solve emergent issues as required
- Participate in the Asset Management program by supporting bug fixes, updates, and improvements within the Maximo environment
- Assist with developing and implementing a root cause analysis tool for use with equipment failures
- Participate in weekly department meetings by developing and presenting equipment reliability reports
- Provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries, questions, and challenges by proper diagnosis of situations and appropriate technical solutions
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule to support global operations which could include weekends, nights, and holidays and on-call
- Participate fully in all Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and safety programs and in pre-tour weekly safety meetings
- Follow Diamond Offshore Global Excellence Management System (G.E.M.S.)
- Perform other duties as required
Required And Preferred Qualifications:
- Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant degree or discipline
- Equipment Reliability experience; Oil and Gas related equipment operation or equivalent
- Experience with Asset Management and condition monitoring within the O&G sector or other relevant industry
- IBM Maximo Software or similar CMMS
- Experience with Quality / Continuous Improvement / Reliability Engineering / Structure Problem Solving methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Travel up to 20% or as required, both domestically and internationally
- Possess or able to obtain a valid Transportation Worker's Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Possess or able to obtain a valid US passport
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
