The
Environmental Field Technician III is responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination, and handling of hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities:
- Adheres to and ensures constant compliance with Health & Safety Compliance and regulations.
- Maintains up-to-date confined space entry supervisor status.
- Responsible for the safe and compliant execution of all jobs that they work on, ensuring customer satisfaction, and accumulating and recording accurate billing information.
- Assists the on-scene foreman/supervisor in managing large projects.
- Responsible for the training and mentoring of field technicians I & II and will provide input to the FSGM regarding performance evaluations for individuals to whom this position has direct supervision.
- Performs emergency response activities including, but not limited to chemical and water spills, etiological and biological contamination, tank cleaning, equipment decontamination, etc.
- Responsible for quick and immediate response when on call, securing coverage for shift and communicating your replacement's name to the coordinator.
- Responsible for vehicle inspections, equipment inspections, and Health & Safety inspections. Ensures proper use of the equipment and immediately notifies supervisor of any mechanical failures or problems with equipment.
- Assists in the field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
- Because of the emergency response and operational nature of the position, a continuing condition of employment is that the applicant/candidate acknowledges and agrees to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and on occasion will require work during weekends and holidays.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned from time to time by management and will be required by the needs of Clean Harbors business, including, but not limited to running supplies, emergency response clean-ups, etc.
What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?
- High School Diploma
- Associate or bachelor's degree in environmental studies preferred
- Valid and clean driver’s license
- Attention to detail
- Computer savvy!
- Able to perform multiple tasks
- Knowledge of RCRA requirements/regulations
- Understands the manpower and equipment required to complete assignments
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Available on a 24-hour, on-call basis.
- Ability to work with little or no direct supervision and an aptitude to complete assigned work
- Strong mechanical ability preferred
- Knowledge of chemicals preferred
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation DOT regulations, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waste codes, manifesting, and Land Disposal Restrictions (LDR) (preferred).
- Must be able to lift to 50lbs, climb ladders, comfortable with confined spaces, bending and stooping.
