Project Environmental Scientist

PSI, an Intertek company, is searching for a Project Environmental Scientist to join our Building & Construction team in our Fairfax, VA office. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow a versatile environmental career in the architectural, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) industry!

What you'll do:

• Support the department on all environmental services including Phase I and II ESAs, UST/LUST assessments, site remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, wetland surveys, and field observation documentation
• Assist in the development of work scope, report preparation, client coordination and assessment of proper response actions
• Mentor technical and support personnel as needed
• Author and review technical reports and proposals

What it takes to be successful in this role:

• BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Toxicology, Engineering, or related field required
• 3+ years of proven technical environmental consulting experience including site investigation and risk assessment
• Professional Geologist (P.G.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) license a plus
• Experience with complex advanced environmental projects
• Experience developing site-specific health and safety plans and soil management plans
• Strong knowledge of TCEQ requirements and calculations including risk-based assessments, contaminant fate, and transport modeling
• Proficiency with Texas and EPA regulations, Site Remediation Program (SRP), Leaking Underground Storage Tank Program (LUST), and risk-based closure process
• Proficiency with regional environmental requirements, including geologic assessments, and ERI's
• Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory requirements and understanding of requirements from state and local regulators
• Proficient in managing projects under CERCLA and RCRA and environmental due diligence projects including Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments following ASTM guidelines
• Excellent writing, communication, and client engagement skills, as well as budget management
• Proficient with analytical laboratory results review and interpretation
