Job Description
GEI is seeking an ambitious Environmental Project Manager that understands and can implement the seller-doer model to support the growth of GEI in the Midwest. The position can be located in either our Milwaukee, Madison or Green Bay, Wisconsin or Grand Rapids, Minnesota office. The ideal candidate will embrace teamwork and collaboration both internally at GEI and with our clients. The position would include a mixture of project management and growth opportunities. It would be expected that the candidate manages projects while also developing new opportunities for GEI and its staff. Our Project Managers are supported by an internal network of billing staff and also receive development training opportunities throughout the year.
Our Midwest natural resource/ecological team is experiencing long-term sustainable growth and is looking to bring in new team members that can help exemplify our team approach to work. The team currently offers a variety of services including permitting, wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species surveys and coordination, GIS/CADD support, and more. Clients include private and public clients within the markets we serve. We look forward to the selected candidate helping to grow our local business and expand our capabilities into new markets.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage and implement projects.
- Grow our ecological and natural resources practice in Wisconsin and the Midwest by developing new and existing clients and markets.
- Cross-sell GEI s other core business areas including traditional environmental, geotechnical, water resources, and civil engineering consulting.
- Help coordinate business development activities within practice; identify key clients / business areas, growth strategy, and capture strategy.
- Exemplify commitment to technical excellence balanced with client-expectations and satisfaction, and profitable project management. Serve as a technical leader and mentor.
- Lead proposal efforts, presentations, maintain high visibility in the marketplace through regular client contact, participate and encourage active participation in client-based professional organizations, and make presentations at industry events.
- Manage the technical, financial and client relationship aspects of a variety of natural resource and ecological projects with a geographic emphasis in the Wisconsin and Midwest regional market.
- Serve as a role model for leadership, company culture, and values.
- Contribute to strategic planning at the office, regional and national level.
- Work with marketing and others to develop GEI branding within practice.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 8 years of experience working on and managing projects. Strong preference to experience with corridor/utility projects.
- Seller-Doer with established network of clients and contacts, entrepreneurial spirit, and a successful track record in business development.
- Collegial team builder with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Broad local/regional understanding of discipline needs and emerging trends.
- Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to GEI branch offices, and project/client sites as required.
- Valid U.S. driver s license
