It is full-time (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
Description of Work:
Travel to assigned client sites or events throughout the state will be required as part of the program's outreach and marketing efforts. Frequency of travel is partly based on need but may be 10-15% of the time monthly. This position meets with clients or events; therefore a valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate ESI program management; track and manage program data and databases; develop grant applications, program reports, and outreach materials; work with partner organizations; and contribute to program improvement initiatives.
- Coach assigned ESI member facilities through virtual or on-site technical assistance on management systems, pollution prevention strategies, membership advancement and ESI requirements.
- Provide management system training, auditing services, and technical assistance based on the ISO 14001 or 50001 international management standards.
- Coordinate the annual ESI Conference with help from other section staff and lead or support in-person/virtual meetings, networking events, trainings, webinars and site visits.
- Develop and convey presentations regarding program benefits and services and participate in program marketing and outreach activities including at workshops, conferences, and trade shows.
The mission of the Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS) is to protect and improve North Carolina's environment and economy through; customer-focused assistance, greater understanding of environmental permitting and compliance, wider adoption of sustainable practices, increased recycling and reduced waste disposal and reduced impacts from resource consumption. DEACS is the lead state agency on pollution prevention strategies and waste reduction. Our mission is to provide quality customer service and technical assistance that is both solution and education oriented. This position is located within the Environmental Assistance Section of DEACS that provides oversight of the DEQ Environmental Stewardship Initiative (ESI), DEQ toll-free hotline management, DEQ SEPA response and management, DEQ permitting assistance and guidance and DEQ's Clean Air Act small business assistance. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Master's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
