Environmental Health Director
The Henry and Stark County Health Department is searching for a full time Environmental Health Director. This position serves under the general direction of the Public Health Administrator. Some of the responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: assists in preparation of ordinance and regulations for local adoption in accordance with recommended standards; plans, develops, implements and evaluates program goals, objectives, standards of performance, and policies and procedures; collaborates with other health personnel in epidemiological investigations and control; develops administrative methods which may include reports, staff meetings and on-site visits to monitor program utilization, time, efficiency and to analyze operational procedures; establishes standards for evaluation of environmental health team; teaches Food Protection Manager and Food Handlers classes; reviews and approves plans, issues permits, and inspects food service facilities, private sewage disposal systems and private water supplies. Minimum Education, Training or Experience:
A Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health preferred with minimum of 30 semester hours of physical and/or biological science; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be licensed as an Environmental Health Practitioner through the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Must hold an ANSI approved Food Protection Manager Instructor Certificate and ANSI approved Food Protection Manager Exam Proctor Certificate within three months of employment.
Valid Illinois driver’s license; current certificate of vehicle insurance; proficiency in basic computer skills; ability to work longer shifts, nights, and weekends to meet operational needs as determined by administration; ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
