POSITION SUMMARY
Coordinates all Environmental / Wastewater / Recycling / Hazardous Waste Departments & Activities in assigned cost center to effectively and safely abide by all regulatory requirements including RCRA, CERCLA, EPA, and DNR. Also ensures compliance to EFCO specific Permit Requirements. Performs yearly budgeting, setting and meeting objectives.
POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees & all Environmental record keeping and reporting requirements. Assists with audits / visits from all branches of EPA, DNR, DHS, DOT, etc.
- Prepares compliance reports for certification by VP of Operations and submits them to required Governmental agencies in a timely manner. Attends required meetings with multiple divisions of MDNR. Maintains required levels of ongoing training / education.
- Prepares & submits permit updates & renewals in a timely manner, correlating external resources when required.
- Prepares & oversees application of RCRA Contingency Plan, SWPPP & BMP Plan, & SPCC Plan, correlating external resources as required.
- Performs all required site visits / audits of facilities receiving EFCO waste or spent products.
- Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures which support total customer satisfaction, both internally and externally, where applicable in relation to this position.
- Responsible for maintaining all quality standards, specifically regarding permit requirements. To accomplish this objective, continually educates all employees concerning the requirements contained within the permits and applicable regulations. Trains employees on the proper use of their equipment and processes, explaining to them the quality guidelines for their operation(s) and how their operation(s) fit into maintaining permit and regulatory compliance. Informs employees of problems found in audits and/or inspections. Additionally, conducts a proper follow-up on all customer complaints and instructs employees on proper inspection, containment, storage and disposal of waste.
- Responsible for improving his/her skills in technical, physical, mental and mechanical areas that concern his/her department.
- Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement events in relation to both cost and quality/safety.
- Participates in EFCO's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, plus minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Wastewater License or the ability to acquire one preferred.
COMPUTER SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Lotus, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.

- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Understanding and competence with Environmental, Wastewater, Recycling and Hazardous Waste Management.
- Excellent written and oral communication

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs day to day activities of the environmental team and provides feedback to the employees’ direct supervisor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
The work will be performed mostly in office environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor. The noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
