This key strategic position will collaborate with IT and business leadership to create reliable, scalable and flexible cloud-based enterprise data and analytic systems to inspire UMA's journey to be a data-driven industry leader. The Enterprise Data Architect will report to Vice President, Enterprise Data Strategy and Services.
The Director, Enterprise Data and Enterprise Data Architect reports to the VP of Enterprise Data Strategy and Services.
UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

Anticipated starting salary of $190,000; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:
- Own the outcome. Execute as one collectively with IT leadership peers.
- Lead creation and implementation of architectural best practices, design patterns and development considerations for end-to-end data and analytics requirements. Ensure all data project and development efforts align with enterprise architecture vision, and security requirements.
- Define and implement enterprise data architecture framework to support enterprise data and analytics strategy including data pipelines, data lake, data warehouse/marts, data governance, data models, semantic models, metadata management, analytics, and AI/ML capabilities.
- Create and deploy standards for data ingestion, storage, organization, data modeling and data requirements for enterprise projects. Champion UMA's enterprise data management strategy that continuously improve the organization's ability to derive value from data.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Governance, Applications, Infrastructure, Information Security, Project Management and other IT teams to affirm data architecture requirements are effectively addressed in enterprise initiatives.
- Provide subject matter expertise in identification, qualification and implementation of new processes and technologies that support the organization's data strategy.
- Define Data Ops, ML Ops and DevSecOps standards for CI/CD processes of data projects. Lead development and implementation of Cloud FinOps for enterprise data requirements. Advise on resource planning, personnel decisions, and team structures to meet current and expected future needs of the institution. Provide inputs to Opex / Capex budgets.
- Ensure UMA's data architecture aligns with overall enterprise architecture and meets or exceeds regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Partner with business leadership to strategically address requirements and champion data strategy vision. Guide organizational change management to enable the organization embrace advances in UMA data ecosystem.
- Coach Enterprise Data and Analytics team members to understand, embrace, and implement data architecture imperatives to build robust, sustainable data solutions. Enable a high performance data organization capable of delivering enterprise data strategy
- Stay abreast of new developments in data architecture; recommend and support case for enhancements with an eye towards new capabilities and/or capability improvements that deliver a strong value proposition.
- Be a champion of continuous improvement, understand and address gaps within the department related to technology, collaboration, team health, operational workflows, etc. to deliver sustainable excellence.
Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 10 years of experience implementing strategic, technical, architectural, and governance solutions related to Enterprise Data and Analytics management for modern data ecosystems in a transformational capacity.
- 5 years of experience in Entity Relationship modeling, metadata management, information lifecycle management applied to data engineering, governance, and analytics
- Hands-on experience leading complex data architecture projects from requirements through production with deep technical skills to guide development teams to resolve implementation and operational challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in Data Ops/ ML Ops/ DevSecOps for CI/CD deployment.
- Demonstrated expertise to collaborate with relevant business and functional leadership to ensure alignment with tactical and strategic goals
- Broad knowledge of vendor capabilities in data management solutions - Data Catalog, Master Data Management, Data Pipelines, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and Descriptive/Predictive analytics.
- Excellent leadership skills, including strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, alignment building, initiative, collaboration, communication, and empathy.
Preferred Requirements:
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science or a similar discipline from an accredited institution.
- 5 years senior IT leadership experience leading complex initiatives.
- Experience in developing architectural solutions using Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, ADLS Gen 2, Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Purview, Informatica DQ, Attacama, and Power BI.
- Experience developing architectural frameworks for stand-alone and embedded data and analytics products.
- Experience with higher education technology, data, student information, learning and systems like Anthology, Brightspace D2L and similar preferred.
- Experience with IT governance and compliance controls and procedures, and with frameworks like SOX, COBIT, GLBA and NIST 800.
Working Environment:
- Fully remote role with only occasional, planned onsite or travel requirements.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
