Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
The home campus for this position is
Lock Haven.
This position will ensure compliance with the Pennsylvania State Grant program and other special programs administered by PHEAA. Additionally, the position will serve as back-up SCO while providing direct support to Veterans and their dependents at the Lock Haven campus. The position is vital to ensure compliance in these areas.

Essential Duties
- Provide exceptional customer service to students/parents via phone, email, and walk-in counter service
- Support the Directors, Assistant Directors, and clerical staff with a variety of administrative tasks
Specific Duties
- Provide excellent customer service on a daily basis. This includes in-person appointments, phone calls, and returning emails.
- Represent the Office of Financial Aid at on and off-campus recruitment and financial aid events/workshops (may include occasional weekend events)
- Manage all facets of the Pennsylvania State Grant program & other special programs administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA)
- Serve as back-up School Certifying Official (SCO) of Commonwealth University while providing direct assistance and guidance to Veterans and their dependents at the Lock Haven campus
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
Three (3) years of experience in the delivery of technical services and assistance to customers that involved the application of specific laws, rules, regulations, and procedures, and which included or was supplemented by one (1) year of direct public contact work;
OR
An associate degree and one (1) year of experience in the delivery of technical services and assistance to customers or customers that involved the application of established laws, rules, regulations, and procedures, and which included or was supplemented by one (1) year of direct public contact work;
OR
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Banner student information system is preferred

- Employment is conditional, pending successful completion of the background clearances mandated by Act 153 of 2014 and Board of Governors Policy 2014-01-A: Protection of Minors. In order to qualify for a provisional appointment, the Applicant Acknowledgement Consent Form, Provisional Hire Form, Pennsylvania State Police and Justifacts portion of the clearance process must be successfully completed prior to your start date. The remaining PA Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Clearance must be successfully completed and returned as soon as possible within the first 90 days of employment.
Background Clearances
In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Checks.
Appointment is provisional provided the “Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form” and verification of your three background checks are returned to the Human Resource office prior to your hire date.
