English Learner (EL) Assistant
Qualification: “Highly Qualified” status
Supervised by: EL Coach
Works closely with: In their buildings the ELL Facilitators, Teachers with EL clusters, other EL Assistants
Supervises: No one
1. Provides support to EL students in classrooms under the supervision of Teachers with EL clusters
2. Help prepare students for ACCESS and assist with logistics on testing days
3. Elementary: Maintain a daily schedule which includes every grade level that has ELs (K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) for 40 minutes,
4 days a week (excluding half of Wednesdays)
4. Secondary: Maintain a regular schedule assisting Teachers with EL clusters throughout the building, assisting in the ENL
classroom, and with Newcomers, as needed, 4 days a week (excluding half of Wednesdays)
5. Engage in a collaboration and material making for a half day on most Wednesdays with the EL Coach and other EL Assistants
6. Attends professional development/training with EL Team as needed.
