Coordinate and implement SHCC’s English Enrichment Program (EEP) as the lead teacher in one of our two Middle School EEP classrooms. As an English enrichment educational summer program for Elementary School aged students, this position will ensure the curriculum meets state and program standards as well as engages program participants in educational activities. This program offers students continuity of linguistic and mathematic learning through the summer, supporting a foundation for continued learning. This program happens on-site at Hunt Middle School (HMS) and many students transition into the Winooski- Burlington School District (BSD) Expanded Learning Middle School Summer Program at 12pm, which also operates out of HMS.

Reports To: Middle and Teen Programs Director
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The program operates from June 26th through July 28, 2023
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans for your classroom, providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster a linguistic and mathematical foundation for students.
- Ensure program curriculum supports academic and social needs of participating youth, adapting curriculum and support to meet individualized needs of students.
- Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth.
- Support students in making positive behavior choices by observing student behavior, assessing its appropriateness, and applying appropriate behavior management techniques, positive redirection, or appropriate corrective action as necessary.
- Promote healthy choices, prosocial behavior, and a growth mindset among students and staff.
- Work with all SHCC staff and partners to ensure program safety and a supportive environment, including collaborating with Winoosk-BSD Expanded Learning Summer Program staff.
- Maintain a close working relationship with fellow EEP Teachers and Assistants.
- Collaborate with the classroom’s Assistant Teacher, keeping them informed of the curriculum and individualized support for students.
- Identify performance targets for each group/class.
- Maintain classroom curriculum and related documentation, including end-of-program report, and submit to Middle and Teen Programs Director.
- Accurately complete and submit incident reports, attendance, receipts, and other program-related materials in a timely manner.
- Communicate with the Middle and Teen Programs Director regarding program supplies needed.
- Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in staff and student matters.
- Maintain cleanliness in all program areas; assist with the setup and breakdown during program day to contribute to ongoing maintenance in an effort to keep the space clean and orderly.
- Ensure all program activities and operations adhere to SHCC and BSD policies and procedures.
- Accept the role and responsibilities of being a mandated reporter for child abuse/neglect.

Qualifications:
Education:
VT Teacher Licensure, preferably with English as a Second Language or English Language Learner endorsement. At least one-year of teaching experience is required.

$26 - $30 per hour
