Engineering Associate A:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.

Engineering Associate B:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Engineering or in a field related to the job, plus two (2) years related experience.
  • Experience may be substituted for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.

Engineering Associate C:
  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to engineering, plus four (4) years of experience in a field related to the job, one (1) year in a lead capacity.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years

The Austin Transportation Department, Right of Way (ROW) Division, is seeking to fill an Engineering Associate position that will review temporary traffic control plans (TCPs) for conformance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations. This position will identify, document, and communicate plan deficiencies to internal and external customers using tools, such as Outlook and Bluebeam Studio, and enterprise case management systems, such as AMANDA & Knack. This position will participate in the phasing, scheduling, coordination, and assistance in resolution for field corrections of TCPs in the Right-of-Way, in order to preserve project delivery deadlines, public mobility, safety, and accessibility.

Engineer Associate A – $26.10 – $31.29
Engineer Associate B – $27.90 – $34.17
Engineer Associate C – $30.14- $37.68

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing multiple project reviews, use of effective time management to meet deadlines, facilitate & attend meetings with engineers and contractors in-person and in the field.
  • Experience reviewing construction plans and temporary traffic control plans in conformance with governmental regulations such as the City of Austin Transportation Criteria Manual and Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
  • Active Certification in Temporary Traffic Control.
  • Experience using enterprise case management systems such as AMANDA and Knack.
  • Experience in the design development and construction of projects within the Right-of-Way.
  • Ability to travel to more than one work location.
