What Does an Engineering & Facilities Manager do?

  • Oversees the facilities and maintenance teams, ensuring that they adhere to operating policies and procedures, OSHA guidelines, planning projects, and coordinating maintenance of buildings equipment.
  • Oversees training and sets expectations for maintenance personnel in safety, equipment usage, operational procedures, and quality control.
  • Responsible for assuring that all applicable environmental and safety regulations are followed at the site, including but not limited to: ensuring proper waste disposal and lock-out tag-out procedures.
  • Develop, implement and manage a proactive maintenance strategy; schedule and oversee all maintenance-related projects. Analyze work proposals to determine if benefits derived justify expenditure (e.g., analyze the amount of time the project would save).
  • Act as a resource for the team by providing general/technical information, alerting other members to the impact of their decisions, and providing appropriate feedback regarding overall performance.
  • Supervises staff, identifying and training high-potential employees. Develops a talent pool by hiring new employees as openings occur.

Job Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering is required; a master's is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • 7+ years prior experience in manufacturing operations in positions of increasing responsibility in Engineering/Facilities Management.
  • Prior management experience.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, 140001, Etc.
  • Fluent and well-spoken in English with excellent technical writing skills.
