The position for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Global Drilling, Completions and Workover performance team at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the Manager of Performance Management.

Purpose/Job Summary:
Assist the DC&W function to improve performance by active support of the Drilling engineering and operations function working for the global Asset teams. Areas of focus include modeling, leveraging data, value-add technology, and process improvement. Theme is a data-driven approach to performance improvement. Effort will include daily surveillance of active operations and follow-up with drilling teams on drilling problems and incidents including root cause analysis. Lead several medium to long-term performance improvement efforts including large project focused on real-time advisory system including leveraging for remote operations. Look for ways to simply engineering and operations workflow doing process re-engineering. Explore and vet technology to bring forward to add value and increase performance. Once sanctioned, follow through by coordinating and assisting the drilling teams with management of change leading to a successful implementation. Drive efforts to streamline data flow, collection, and analysis along with support of KPI development, usage and evaluation. Projects will include detailed drilling roadmaps, offset analysis, and high-end engineering modeling. Further push a pragmatic use of data analytics to improve planning and helping to accelerate learning.
The position is expected to work effectively across organization Functions and Assets in a collaborative manner. Expect to learn and grow to also support Completions and Workover efforts. Travel to Asset locations will be required, but not frequent.

This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
  • Support Drilling Engineering and Operations as required, plus Completions and Workovers
  • Provide high-end engineering modeling support as required for more difficult applications and issues
  • Help to drive longer term performance initiatives leveraging data analytics covering all drilling aspects, including cost
  • Assist with field reviews, optimization studies, and gather local operational knowledge and experience
  • Assist with EHS and operation incident investigations using root cause analysis tools following through to verification of completion and recording lessons learned
  • When required, be able to step in as a Drilling Engineer with well planning, permitting, AFEs, etc.
  • Assist and support management system development for standard operating procedures and communication flow paths
  • Identify and assess opportunities for new technologies
  • Provide operations support as a liaison between assets groups and share lessons learned
  • As required, follow-up with suppliers and third-party resources Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • 7 to 10 years of experience as a Drilling Engineer working for an O&G Operator
  • Excellent communicator with both field and office, across organization
  • Highly proficient in key software applications
  • WellView
  • Landmark drilling suite
  • DrillScan
  • Spotfire
  • Experience with managing and analyzing drilling data
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Application of data analytics
  • Nonexpired Well Control Certification Competencies
