Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $50,148 - $55,000
Reporting to the Deputy Emergency Manager, the Life Safety Coordinator shall assist with the implementation of a comprehensive emergency management program.
This position assists with the coordination and facilitation of all aspects of the Office of Emergency Management with particular emphasis on the coordination of life safety equipment (50%) and community outreach and engagement (50%).
- Assist with the coordination of the maintenance of Binghamton University's publicly accessible life safety equipment, including but not limited to: AED's, Bleeding Control and NARCAN
- Assist in the design, development and distribution of public information and education materials to enhance community awareness and preparedness
- Create content for the Office of Emergency Management's social media platforms, Including: lnstagram, Facebook and Twitter
- Prepare reports, procedures, and documentation that support emergency management functions
- Provide ongoing support to faculty, staff, and student groups in their preparedness efforts
- Participate in the development and implementation of instructive seminars, presentations and workshops
- Serve as a member of the University's Emergency Response Team and Incident Management Team
Job Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Must possess a minimum of one year related work experience
- Must possess a valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State
- Must possess excellent organization, attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Must be capable of effective oral and written communication
- Must be comfortable speaking publicly and in front large groups
- Must be able to work as part of a team and recognize the Importance of each team member
- Must be capable of working under strict deadlines and changing priorities with minimal supervision
- Must be capable of creating effective social media content
- Must be fluent in Microsoft Office and Google Suites
- Must be able to lift 20Ibs and traverse large buildings and exterior spaces
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS)
- Completion of FEMA ICS trainings 100, 200, 700, & 800
- Experience with Canva or other graphic design platforms
