Office of Emergency Management Hourly Rate: $21.38 - $24.43 Posting will remain open until the position is filled The Office of Emergency Management's (OEMs) has exciting and high demanding opportunities to provide excellent Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the citizens of Milwaukee County. Fiserv Forum is our largest venue and provides a lot of opportunities to provide services at concerts, Bucks games, and other gatherings. We also provide services at the Milwaukee County Zoo and Milwaukee Admirals games, which are the primary venue locations.
We are seeking TEN new Hourly EMS Paramedics to cover special event venues where large crowds are anticipated, and medical coverage is necessary due to crowd size and/or event type. Job Summary: The Hourly EMS Paramedic will operate within the Wisconsin State EMS Scope of Practice as approved within the Treatment Guidelines of Milwaukee County OEM-EMS. Providers are expected to respond promptly to requests for service, assess, and provide appropriate treatment, and complete documentation of the patient encounter. Providers are also expected to properly train and prepare to respond to unique situations, sometimes challenging, within different venues.
Position Duties: • Immediately respond to requests for service when notified of an event requiring medical assessment and treatment. • Thoroughly document the entire patient encounter consistent with expectations of Milwaukee County OEM-EMS. • Accurately document events, provide information for CQIP, and provide information on risk assessments to the venues we serve. • Complete annual LMS training as required by the county and the Office of EMS.
Complete in-house training or specialized training sessions as mandated by the EMS Division. • Work with EMS Supervisor to assess risks of events and prepare equipment accordingly. Follow direction of EMS Supervisor for staffing positions to provide optimal coverage for the event. • Complete inventory lists and ensure equipment is functioning and stocked appropriately.
Appointee must establish residency in the State of Wisconsin within six months of start date and maintain such residency during employment. In accordance with Rule III Section 12 of the Civil Service Rules a non-competitive examination will be held for this position. - Ensure 100% compliance with Narcotic Guidelines and comply 100% with accountability checks. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Minimum Required Qualifications • This position requires you to have completed the vaccination against COVID-19 and provide proof of a completed vaccination as a condition of employment or submit a completed medical or religious exemption and accommodation request form. • Resident of the United States of America • Valid and current driver’s license • At least two (2) years of experience working in Paramedicine and/or Emergency Medical Services role is REQUIRED • State of Wisconsin EMT/Paramedic certification REQUIRED at time of application • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications REQUIRED at time of application • Experienced in the use of emergency medical equipment (e.g., Cardiac Monitor Defibrillator, radios, and other medical equipment) • Advanced experience with Zoll X-Series Systems – able to operate independently • ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications are required • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite software • Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 pounds on a regular basis Preferred Qualifications: • Associate degree or higher in Paramedicine, EMS, Fire Sciences, Protective Services or in a closely related field • On the National Paramedic Registry (NREMT) OR able to obtain within one (1) year of hire date is required • Familiarization with IMAGETREND Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic Emergency Medical terminology; knowledge of common Emergency medical services forms and reports; skilled at analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity (i.e.
