POSITION TITLE: Employee Relations Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

GRADE/FLSA STATUS: S15 – Exempt

BADGE TYPE/COLOR: Key--Blue

REPORTS TO: Manager, Human Resources

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB SUMMARY:

The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for the implementation of human resource policies, practices procedures and services, including but not limited to EEO, employee discipline, coaching, legal compliance, training, and policies. This position also assists the Human Resources Manager and Employee Relations Supervisor and operates as a general source for human resource issues and activities consistent with HCCR policies and procedures. All duties are to be performed within the guidelines of the Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives.

JOB ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ø Endorse the business objectives, ethics, and values of Caesars Entertainment in accordance with the Code of Commitment and Mission, Vision and Values

Ø Support Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River recognition programs i.e. Quarterly and Yearly Yonah, Quarterly Service Events, Total Return Credit submissions

Ø Maintain knowledge of federal/state labor laws, including but not limited to, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action guidelines/laws, and the Americans with Disabilities Act

Ø Audit department files to ensure accurate and timely performance documentation

Ø Interpret policies/practices and recommend implementing policies to ensure compliance as may be required

Ø Assemble and review records, reports and documentation of disciplinary and performance actions to ensure conformity and fairness in their application

Ø Ensure company policies are adhered to by guiding team members and by making necessary recommendations

Ø Analyze data points related to turnover, employee feedback, unemployment claims, focus group/climate surveys, exit interviews, etc., working with leaders in the implementation of action/development plans to enhance work environment and increase retention

Ø Establish and maintain relationships with managers/supervisors to stay abreast of current and future employee relations issues to help prevent potential employee problems

Ø Conduct investigations and interviews to develop solutions to resolve employee relations issues in a timely manner

Ø Assist with employee grievance procedures, board of review, processing requests, files, and documentation

Ø Anticipate future employee engagement needs of the casino

Ø Assist the Human Resources Manager and Supervisor, as may be appropriate, in and referring employees to the Employee Assistance Program

Ø Counsel Managers and supervisors regarding Human Resources policies and procedures

Ø Assist in responding to federal state and local agencies (e.g., EEOC, DOL, unemployment)

Ø Produce reports for employee relations manager and supervisor

Ø Maintain employee relations documentation including review of and monitoring Continuous Improvement plans relevant to EOS/SFS and employee engagement and investigations

Ø Facilitate Random Drug Testing requirements

Ø Participate as a member of the team by volunteering and being involved in projects, committees, and task forces by providing input and suggestions

Ø Proactive with incidents and issues ensuring resolution with employees

Ø Maintain a professional work environment with supervisors, managers, and staff

Ø Adhere to regulatory, departmental and company policies/procedures in an ethical manner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ø High school diploma or GED required

Ø BSBA from an accredited educational institution preferred

Ø Two-years Employee Relations or Human Resources experience required

Ø PHR certification preferred

Ø Must demonstrate the following essential knowledge and skills:

Ø Familiarity with current labor and employment law (state and federal)

Ø Knowledge of Human Resources law, techniques of Employee Relations and Federal applications Law

Ø General knowledge of Labor Relations/Affirmative Action

Ø Knowledge of internal controls and code of conduct standards

Ø Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene

Ø Documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes

Ø Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ø Strong interpersonal skills (including in volatile situations)

Ø Proficient in the use of Windowsbased office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Ø Willingness to learn with attention to detail

Ø Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Ø Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items

Ø Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues

Ø Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

Ø Must be able to work in small, shared office space

Ø Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and carry 5 pounds

Ø Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment including adding machine, computers, fax machine and photo copier

Ø Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibrations, crowds and air quality including secondhand smoke

Ø Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,867.54 - $55,000.00 per year
