DEPARTMENT: Programs & Operations
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Programs
CLASSIFICATION: Salaried Non-Exempt, Full-time
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fruit Valley Elementary School - 3410 NW Fruit Valley Rd, Vancouver, WA 98660

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Help us build an incredible Club experience for youth in the Fruit Valley community through working collaboratively to create a positive environment. Plan and oversee the administration of programs and activities that prepare youth for success, incorporate key elements, and support youth to meet assessment standards.
- Collaborate with Management Team to plan and implement programming for youth
- Recruit members and encourage participation in programs
- Recruit, select, train, and supervise staff with ongoing feedback and appraisals to identify and support professional development opportunities
- Understand and implement organizational policies, procedures, and goals
- Maintain a healthy and safe environment
- Collaborate with schools, school administrations, and local community agencies
- Manage club facility and supplies
- Establish program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission
- Work with building and management teams to provide quality year round Club programs that have measurable results
- Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in all program areas
- Demonstrate leadership to assure appropriate conduct, safety, and development of members
- Demonstrate leadership in management of facility and grounds. Building and grounds should represent a quality program and organization
- Ensure Club is meeting organization’s membership and attendance goals, proper record keeping and program results for grant funded programs
- Control program and activity expenditures within approved budget
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- May oversee special programs and/or events, and/or participate in the implementation of other Club and organizational activities as necessary
- Support weekend and evening programming including scheduling and on-call support
- Consult with parents/guardians to build positive relationships and resolve issues
- Handle record keeping and appropriate summary reports for grants supporting Club programs
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships, both internally and externally, with Clubhouse staff, senior leadership, families, youth, schools, community groups, and other related agencies to strengthen partnerships and support Club members.
- Support effective volunteer engagement, management and stewardship.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Work experience in a Boys & Girls Club, or similar organization, planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of youth in a leadership role
- Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated ability for cultural competency
- Knowledge and implementation of positive behavior strategies and restorative practices
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
- Demonstrated organizational, staff and project management abilities.
- Evidence of collaboration with outside entities
- Work in a flexible and cooperative manner
- Treat co-workers, supervisors, youth, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times
- Serve as a positive role model and practice the behaviors that are expected of our youth and staff
- Licensed driver, with clean driving record and willingness to drive a 12-passenger van
- Set priorities and work independently in the absence of supervision
- Engage in continuous professional development
EDUCATION
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a BA in Education or related field, with two or more years providing staff supervision and leadership (flexibility of education attained or directly relatable work experience).
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT
- Pass a National Criminal, Social Security, Local Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry Background Check –Required
- Washington State Driver’s license and ability to operate a 10-passenger van, training will be provided
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications within 90 days of employment
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting annual salary for this position is $47,500 - $55,000 DOE. Benefits include 100% employer paid medical, dental, vision coverage; 3% Simple Plan (IRA) employer matching program; and a paid-time off package including 12 holidays and 3 weeks of paid time off. Candidates proficient in and using English and Spanish or English and Chuukese are highly preferred.
