Maintain and repair a wide variety of complex industrial equipment both CNC and manual in a production machining environment. Qualified candidates will have formal training in basic industrial electrical and electronic trouble shooting and have similar industrial work experience. Selection may involve testing of candidates to determine technical ability. Employee repairs and maintains machinery and production equipment, installs functional and structural parts within the facility. Installs, removes and performs preventative maintenance on production equipment and machinery. The employee troubleshoots tests, lubricates and cleans as required. The employee operates a wide variety of power, pneumatic and hand tools as well as precision measuring devices and test equipment. The employee must be cross functional in both electronic and electrical trades, as well as having a good working knowledge of both hydraulic and pneumatic systems. A candidate with HVAC experience is a plus as part of this qualification.

  • Responsible for maintaining production machinery through out the facility
  • Responsible for all facility (electrical) maintenance and repairs
  • Work daily with little or no supervision using the company’s electronic PM system to generate work orders
  • Responsible for executing and closing work orders in the system in a timely manner
  • Accurate record keeping – equipment history, PM schedules, down time logs
  • Dealing directly with suppliers to find parts as required
  • Complete any reports as required by management
  • Comply with any and all safety procedures ie: lock out / tag out, fall prevention, lift equipment safety and confined space entry.
  • Having the ability to make critical calls if safety could be involved with equipment.
  • Responsible to work un-supervised and align work load daily if necessary.
  • Housekeeping duties as required

This position is located in Stuarts Draft, Virginia.

Key Accountabilities

This position will include the following activities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair and maintain machinery / equipment such as CNC lathes, CNC machining centers, CNC & manual gear hobbers and shapers, I.D. / O.D. grinding machines, heat treat furnaces, assembly machines, Quality Control equipment, presses and other industrial equipment.
  • Repair electrical and electronic faults on equipment by troubleshooting, analysis of blueprints, and utilization of machine specification manuals. Repairs may also require some minimal hydraulic and pneumatic troubleshooting.
  • Test, installation, troubleshooting, and/or repair of a wide variety of complex electronic components and production machinery controls utilizing knowledge of programmable logic controls (PLC) and ladder logic, industrial controls, digital electronics, etc.
  • Use of computers; CNC and PLC
  • Use of electronic meters, millimeter, meg meter, oscilloscope.
  • Using a wide variety of hand, power and pneumatic tools
  • Performs complex installation, diagnosis and repair of electronic components thru interpretation of schematics/technical manuals and/or interface with vendor technicians.
  • Will be required to do electrical and other maintenance functions including motor removal, cover and housing disassembly, etc.
  • Must have experience working with 480V & 220V 3 phase, as well as 277V 3 phase and normal 120V single.
  • Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, crawling in confined areas, climbing ladders, working in high areas, use JLG lift, using fork lift, and exposure to high temperatures.
  • Work in hot areas and heights over 25 feet.

  • Responsible for the repair and maintaining machinery and production equipment, installing functional and structural parts within the facility.
  • Install, remove, and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and machinery.
  • Operates a wide variety of power, pneumatic and hand tools as well precision measuring devices and test equipment.
  • Associate is trained cross functional in both electronic and electrical trades.
  • Must obtain fork truck licenses and a JLG operator’s license of which training will be provided.
  • Responsible for purchase of personal tools to perform work adequately.
  • Responsible for accuracy and quality of own work.
  • Required to troubleshoot, test, lubricate and clean machines, work area and to do other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor, Cell Leader and Plant Manager.
  • Perform electrical work associated with above mentioned tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety including TOSHA and plant safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all Standard Work Instructions,
  • Meet all production standards.
  • Ability to get along with others.

Job Requirements

  • Education Requirement: Post high school with emphasis on industrial trades, electronic and electrical, AA/AS degree, Technical School Diploma, or Apprenticeship program.

Minimum Experience:

  • 5 years as industrial electrical/electronic maintenance
  • Position requires a broad knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic principles and applications, as well as a variety of PLC Logic Controls.
  • Capable of using high lifts and other lifting equipment performing maintenance duties.
  • Promoting good work practices while continuing to grow and understand plant operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
