Project Engineer
Details:
Location: St Louis, MO
Compensation: $130k - $140K+ DOE
Travel: 20 -30% (travel globally - South America, Mexico, Europe)
Project Engineer will provide global engineering and project management expertise in the design, modification, construction, and start-up of capital projects worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Drive the business through global projects - Manage global capital projects to support our growth.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
- Collaboration - Assist the various global site engineering and operations teams in the development and execution of division capital initiatives.
- Use your creativity and open mind to find solutions to unique processing problems.
- Planning skills - Must have the ability to maintain schedules on multiple projects, while managing production and construction needs.
- Develop others – Develop and mentor other project engineers on the team
- Justify discrepancies during the course of the project so that approval for added funds can be requested promptly.
- Manage various trades during projects, as assigned, to insure proper building construction and installation of equipment occurs on schedule.
- Monitor schedule and update, as necessary, to keep company management informed of schedule changes.
- Assist plant personnel in training and start-up of completed systems.
- Perform preliminary engineering for the various departments by conceiving solutions and designing modifications to existing buildings, equipment, and processes. This includes equipment sizing, equipment arrangements and alternates, control systems, and equipment cost estimates and quotes.
- Assist the manufacturing staff by developing project budgets and schedules for approval by company management. Submit documentation, suggest alternative solutions, and follow-up as required.
- Provide engineering support services to the manufacturing department upon request to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and process problems.
- Design or recommend small modifications to the equipment, process, or operating procedures.
- Improve processes by transitioning new technology from the R&D lab to the factory floor by the application of equipment and technology.
- Investigate new equipment, technology, and construction methods and recommend application for improved product manufacturing at reduced cost.
Requirements:
- BS in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Electrical discipline
- Experience in plant/process engineering and project management, preferably in the Food, Pharmaceutical or specialty chemical sector.
- Global experience travelling 20-30%
- PMP certified is a plus
