Duties

Perform engineering functions for hydroelectric facilities, which includes creating electrical drawings (single line-diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment and panel layouts, raceway drawings, grounding drawings, plan and section drawings, bills of material, and cable and conduit schedules), Protective Device Settings and Power System Analysis (Load Flow Studies, Short Circuit Studies, Protective Device Coordination, and Arc Flash Studies), and preparing engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Perform CAD drafting. Contribute to preparation of engineering deliverables including assessment reports, low and medium voltage electrical equipment specifications, and studies of limited scope. Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and materials selection. Review vendor documents for electrical equipment and materials against specification requirements. Provide support during construction and startup and prepare test plans. Coordinate with vendors and contractors to answer design questions and respond to requests for information. No hire/fire authority.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related, plus three years’ related experience. Must have EIT certification and in pursuit of Professional Engineering (P.E.) license. Must have experience using the following software tools for hydroelectric facilities: AUTOCAD, MATHCAD, Relay Settings Software (AcSELerator Quickset, and Beckwith IPScom), ProjectWise explorer, ETAP, and Bluebeam Revu. Must have experience with National Electrical Code (NEC). Must have design experience with Hydroelectric Power Generation Plants and emergency power systems. Experience with developing relay settings and working in multi-discipline project teams are required. Must have good written and verbal communications skills in English. Local, regional, and national travel may be required up to 20% of the time to support projects throughout the US to meet with clients as necessary during scoping, site visits, and construction.
