The Electrical Engineering Professional is responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment and other hardware systems.
    General Responsibilities
    • Key participant in creating designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges
    • Collaborates on feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
    • Organizes development testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch
    • Key participant in failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations
    • Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons including; producing design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures
    • Collaborates with senior engineers/managers to engage with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget

    Experience / Qualifications
    • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.

      Detailed Description:
      • The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for electronic/electrical sensor product design and design support over the complete product life cycle including initial customer inquiry, technology selection, conceptual design, supplier and process evaluation/development, detailed design, cost optimization, prototyping, development testing, qualification testing, production launch, failure analysis, customer technical support, and continuous improvements.
      • The Electrical Design Engineer additionally provides support to multiple roles within the organization throughout the product lifecycle, including product engineering, process engineering, quality assurance, and program management in order to enable robust designs and manufacturing processes, as well as achieve best cost designs and timely project execution in order to support business goals.
      • The Electrical Design Engineer is a technical leader whose input is a focal point for project management decisions including technology selection, estimation of development and unit costs, task scheduling and critical path management. They anticipate challenges and exercise creativity in order to identify viable solutions.
      • As an individual technical contributor, the Electrical Design Engineer has opportunities to use their leadership skills to direct the activities of other engineers as a project lead and pursue subject-matter-expertise in a variety of topics. They are an advisor, interpreter, and influencer on the outcome of complex issues facing customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
      • The successful candidate will leverage their expertise and continuous learning to provide recommendations and make decisions throughout the development process that positively impact project outcomes, generate lasting knowledge, and strengthen the broader Sensata product portfolio.
      Experience / Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 3-5 years of experience or Graduate degree and 1-2 years of experience (i.e. Masters degree)
      • Proficient with SPICE electrical simulation (LTSpice, ORCAD, etc, or similar)
      • Proficient with typical laboratory tools (Oscilloscope, Data Acquisition, Spectrum Analyzer, etc)
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
      • Experience working in automotive product or system development highly desired
      • Comfortable solving problems using a structured approach, utilizing methods such as DMAIC, 6 Sigma, 8D, 5Why and DOE
      • Familiarity with APQP and/or associated design tools (e.g. DFM, DFMEA, DRBFM) is a plus
