Evaluates, develops, and keeps the commercial product portfolio updated, including benefits information and administrative regulations required by regulatory agencies and market information in accordance with the goals established by the company. Collaborates and leads product and business development projects, including product changes due to local and/or federal regulatory updates or new regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Keeps a record of assigned health and life products, managing submissions regarding new products or changes to existing products with the local regulator, the Office of the Insurance Commissioner of Puerto Rico, in accordance with applicable regulations through Regulatory Letters, the Insurance Code of Puerto Rico and the Health Insurance Code of Puerto Rico, and any other corresponding regulation.
  • Participates in the Group Life product strategy or any other segment established by management that is not a health product.
  • Analyzes changes in federal or local regulations that impact existing products and identifies the critical areas impacted for work plan development.
  • Researches delegated issues related to public policies, market trends, group requests, new services, or any other topic determined by their supervisor and presents concrete data, findings, and recommendations for decisions to senior management.
  • Develops, proposes, and executes assigned projects by establishing work plans related to product or service development, including developing smart tools, requirements analysis, and phases for implementation.
  • Develops new products or modifies existing products to meet market needs or regulatory changes and presents them in business cases for senior management evaluation.
  • Develops and maintains a market intelligence database of the industry, including an analysis of current competitors for all segments in which the company participates.
  • Evaluates and analyzes market conditions and conducts feasibility studies in conjunction with the finance or actuarial department to determine market demand for new or existing products or services.
  • Identifies efforts and conducts studies on product life cycles, applying marketing and research techniques to optimize the product development process.
  • Submits, coordinates, and maintains a record of interdepartmental tasks for each project assigned through the corresponding process related to product changes and/or new product or service development.
  • Evaluates unique policies submitted by the sales and proposals department to determine compliance with regulations applicable to the group quoted.
  • Develops benefits or services required or requested by self-insured groups in conjunction with clinical policy and configuration group to ensure administration of such service.
  • Keeps the portfolio of registered products up to date and an inventory of networks, services, and alternatives available for sale, identifying how much membership corresponds to each alternative, including benefits or services in transit for approval in the Office of the Commissioner of Puerto Rico.
  • Provides training to the sales force, renewals, services, and other distribution channels to develop retention and sales strategies in general.
  • Supports MCS GIA in evaluating and implementing new products available for sale.
  • Writes, edits, validates, and translates product, implementation, and/or marketing documents or presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or related areas.

Experience: At least three (3) years of experience performing similar functions, preferably in insurance industry.
