Safety Manager, Construction
The role of Safety Manager, Construction is essential to the wellbeing of Atlas Sand associates, and to the safe and efficient operation of our facilities. The Safety Manager for Construction will lead the Safety Mindset at our manufacturing sites undergoing expansion through coaching, mentoring, and implementing mandatory standards while leading by example.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing, conducting, and leading safety and health training courses at all the company locations. This includes all MSHA/OSHA new hire orientation, site specific hazard training, task training, and annual refresher topics
- Collaborate with the Construction Team during expansion and ensure compliance with TCEQ, EPA, 29CFR 1926, site assessments, Department of Human Services and Department of Agriculture
- Filing appropriate site-level reports with regulatory and outside entities
- Coordinate Safety Committee meetings, topics, and hazard hunts
- Perform unbiased incident investigation, documentation, and analysis. We seek the cause, not to blame
- Observe plant areas, work practices, contractors, and vendors to drive ongoing conformance to Atlas' internal safety standards
- Lead pre job risk assessments for nonroutine tasks
- Assist Project Team with contractor safety oversight
- Participate in benchmarking reviews with outside entities
- Tabulate safety statistics and generate meaningful reports that Site Leadership can use to modify behavior
- Support and assist the HSE and Site Leadership team in coordinating environmental compliance activities and prevention efforts, including:
- SPCC - Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure plan inspections and documentation
- Method 9 visual emissions – training, reading, and documentation
Qualifications:
- Two to three years of experience in an HSE role
- Hands on training or teaching experience in an industrial environment
- Computer experience, Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Demonstrated experience with MSHA and/or OSHA regulatory requirements
- Excellent oral, written, presentation and leadership skills
- Interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team-based system
- Willing to work weekend and nights shifts if needed as directed
- The HSE Manager is subject to outside environmental conditions; hazards such as moving machine parts, confined spaces, energy isolation, working at heights, mobile equipment, noise, dust, etc.
