Under indirect supervision, the EDM Operator is responsible for specified exact tolerances and finish specifications to perform diversified machining operations. Employ 5S and Lean Manufacturing skills in every day work practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use blueprint, schematics, written and verbal directions, shop policies and quality standards to obtain required contours, dimensions and finish specifications.
  • Calibrate and modify operational sequences to adjust speed of machining and frequency of cuts.
  • Perform general shop work such as deburring, machine repair and maintenance duties.
  • Use safety standards as a guideline to perform machine maintenance and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Act as a troubleshooter for machining problems. Resolve problems or refer problems to appropriate individual.
  • Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to positive teamwork environment.
  • May occasionally perform responsibilities of an assembler.
  • Perform all responsibilities within productivity and quality expectations. Follow work procedures.
  • Make recommendations for improvements to work processes.
  • Train operators in machining processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Bachelor's or technical degree and three to five years of experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand production drawings (mechanical and electrical), prints, and SOPs.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly to manufacturing and QA personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite manufacturing duties. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
