The team is currently offering a sign on bonus up to $15,000 to qualified candidates as well as a relocation bonus of $6,000 for out of state candidates. Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Graduate of a two (2) year Allied Health Training Program, Ultrasound Technology preferred.
  • Bachelors program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) or graduate of an accredited program in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred.
  • 0-4 years experience inpatient/outpatient cardiac ultrasound.
  • New Mexico State Licensure under the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program (NMRTT).
  • Current BLS required.
  • Required: Required: ARDMS/RDCS credential with one of the following specialties: AE, FE, PE; or one CCI credential: RCS, RCCS
Responsibilities:
  • Performs all routine echocardiograms independently for evaluation of possible abnormal heart defects or disease (inpatient or outpatient).
  • Perform Stress echocardiogram and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms.
  • Assist with standard and advanced transesophageal echocardiograms.
  • Assist structural heart transesophageal echocardiograms (TAVR, MVCLIP, Watchman, ASD closure)
  • Requires more advanced detailed knowledge of 2D and 3D cardiac anatomy, pathophysiology and principles of ultrasound.
  • Applying independent judgement during the exam to determine the need to for any additional imaging enhancement or bubble study.
  • Demonstrates clinical and technical expertise in the field of echocardiography.
  • Advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills to recognize, analyze and resolve problems to ensure completion of performed exam.
  • Accurately completes charges for all exams performed in the EHR system as well as initiate and assign the preliminary report in PACS.
  • Knowledge of Merge Cardio manager.
  • Assist with the daily operation of the lab, including supply chain ordering.
  • Acts as expert resource/mentor for staff.
  • Knowledge in Joint Commission regulations pertaining to the lab as well as the HLD TEE area. Needs to be able to speak to the process.
  • Need to sign off other staff on TEE HDL competencies.
  • Maintain and submit required data for Quality Assurance as well as IAC cases.
  • Participates in IAC committee.
  • Assist with managing the Quality Assurance programs.
  • Assists with IAC case management and review.
  • Keeps current with developments in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and publications.
  • Available for call on a monthly rotational basis.
  • Prepare exam room and ultrasound equipment to conduct sonography examinations in accordance with infections disease, and patient safety protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in machine malfunctions by calling service and managing system downtime.
  • Maintains and documents communications with physician and nursing units regarding test results.
  • Communicate with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient's ability to understand.
  • Function as a team member to organize and prioritize responsibilities to complete daily work requirements.
  • Maintain requirements for hospital/departmental and specialty area(s) competencies.
  • Participates in and endorses the established PHS Policies and Procedures and guest relations programs.
  • Consults with and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems in assigned areas.
  • Assists in interview and provides input for potential sonographer candidates.
  • Performs other lead/resource assignments with guidance from supervisor or manager.
  • Assigned admin call duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties and functions as required.
