Prepare and assist with Early Childhood Programs Assist with festivals and special events. Assist with day-to-day operations of Farm Education programs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or similar degree with experience in Early Childhood Education or Outdoor Education
  • Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with children and the public.
  • Ability to lift 10-20 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education.
  • Additional education and training in the field of education.
  • Additional education in agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences.
  • Additional teaching experience related to educational areas listed above.
  • Experience teaching subjects related to agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences.
  • Experience working in Outdoor Education
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

Program Responsibilities:

Program Delivery – 80%
  • Teach existing educational programs. as defined
  • Deliver programs for festivals and special events.
  • Foster acceptance of programs, methods, and policies to address community and individual needs and consider diverse audiences.
  • Utilizing established materials serve as subject matter resources in discipline; and provide standard responses.
  • Interact with program participants.
  • Represent CCE before the public, community leaders, government officials, Cornell, or other land grant universities as part of program delivery.
  • Utilize a variety of proven educational methodologies.
  • May assist in providing educational program efforts via mass media.
Program Evaluation – 5%
  • Apply subject matter knowledge to evaluate the educational program.
  • Design or create a program evaluation framework.
  • Implement program evaluation.
  • Analyze collected program evaluation data.
  • Make recommendations for improvements.
  • Communicate evaluation results and findings.
Administrative Responsibilities:
  • – 10%
  • Assist with program organization, including purchasing supplies, preparing and gathering materials, and set-up and clean-up of all program areas as requested.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including purchase orders and program budgets.
  • Handle cash transactions from the general public.
  • Answer general program inquiries via telephone and email.
  • Register participants for special programs.
Professional Improvement - 5%
  • Prepare for and actively participate in staff training and meetings.
  • Participate in staff evaluation processes as instructed.
  • Collaborate in activities that generally support Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Health and Safety - Applied to all duties and functions.
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe living and working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow applicable federal, state, and local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement, and standards.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

Salary: $16.12 per hour
Hour: Part-Time 30 hours per week
