Job Description Summary

The Retail Sales Representative will contribute to Lamb Weston’s growth by identifying key retail customer decision makers within a defined region and working with them directly at store-level to expand our business. The SR will work closely with the Customer Business Manager and Area Business Managers to achieve sales objectives related to: volume, net sales, distribution, shelving, pricing, merchandising and market share for assigned customers. The SR will collaborate with Lamb Weston’s cross-functional teams to develop sales insights and execute strategies to leverage these opportunities with our retail customers.

The Retail Sales Representative is a developmental role. Upon hire, you will complete rotations with cross-functional partners and complete a robust 30-60-90-day plan including: Category Sales Development, Category Leadership, Product/Portfolio, Sales Technology, and effective selling.

Lamb Weston is actively seeking a motivated and self-disciplined individual who wants to break into the fiercely competitive but highly lucrative world of sales. This is an entry level sales position and sales experience is not needed. The aim of this role is to provide excellent, ongoing training and support to new salespeople. No experience needed - but a passion for helping people, adaptability, and the ability to overcome challenges well is vital to your success.
  • Effectively manage a Natural Channel retail sales territory which covers a wide geography and diverse customer base.
  • Ensure Lamb Weston’s distribution, display, pricing and merchandising objectives are being met at assigned retail accounts.
  • Evaluate and prioritize retail account base to establish and execute call frequency schedule.
  • Conduct structured retail sales calls, including cold calls, within territory by identifying key decision makers at store-level and influencing them to implement business building initiatives.
  • Develop strong working relationships with customers and earn the reputation of a valued partner and category expert.
  • Work with retailers directly to achieve distribution ACV objectives on core items and new item launches.
  • Gain commitment for store level promotional activation and monitor executional performance.
  • Create and deliver custom presentations by compiling information and insights from a variety of sources and utilizing fact based selling skills.
  • Analyze Lamb Weston shipment data, distributor reports and syndicated data to identify business opportunities and issues.
  • Communicate internally to Lamb Weston any emerging opportunities and competitive activity within assigned customer base.
  • Assist Customer Business Mgr. and Area Business Mgrs. with headquarter sales calls at retail chain accounts and distributors.
  • Represent Lamb Weston at trade shows, table-top events and distributor sales meetings.
  • Supervise and/or conduct required shelf work including product cut-ins, test store sets, store resets and remodels.
  • Conduct store audits across all retail channels to provide Lamb Weston Retail Business Unit visibility to current market conditions.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 0–1-year prior sales experience or combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to use a variety of technology and tools including, Microsoft Suite, virtual meeting rooms/web conferencing, CRM tools including Salesforce and DOMO.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and develop strong relationships.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal skills and ability to negotiate.
  • Strong business management skills, including data analysis and ability to develop and execute strategy.
  • The ability to travel independently, valid U.S. drivers’ license, and ability to meet Company driving standards.
  • Extensive travel up to 85% (local and overnight).

This compensation is specific to this position and takes into account a number of variables. Actual compensation may be higher or lower in the range posted based on various factors, including, but not limited to, job duties, experience and expertise. A candidate’s work location could also impact the actual compensation being outside of the range to reflect local cost of labor. A reasonable annual estimate of the range for this role based on the variables previously mentioned is: $62,620.00 - $93,910.00
