This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for an early career Geologist for our Buffalo, NY office. The following locations will also be considered: Horseheads, NY and Rochester, NY. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- The successful candidate will be fully engaged throughout 2023 during regular work days as an inspector at a remedial construction site located in Geneva, NY. Travel will be paid and overtime is required.
- Work and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers and others to address environmental cleanup issues.
- Support site assessment and remediation work both in the office and in the field for projects throughout the US.
- Oversee and log the installation of soil borings and groundwater wells.
- Perform multimedia environmental sampling and interpret the results.
- Supervise subcontractors performing construction, drilling, waste removal, etc.
- Support work plan and report preparation including writing text, organizing and presenting data, and providing quality control for data.
- Participate in hydrogeologic investigations including slug and pump tests, and use appropriate processing software to analyze results.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in geology or a closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 year experience, including relevant internship experience.
- Strong interpersonal communication, organizational, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
- Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. • Ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies. • Ability to travel to support business needs including local and out of town.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates who have passed or plan to pass the Fundamentals of Geology exams.
- Completed OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training.
- Experience with databases and modelling/visualization software.
Compensation and Benefits:

Expected Salary: $45,600 - $82,100
