Position Summary:

ESP seeks a full-time E-2C Hawkeye Dual Qualified Contract Instructor Pilot (CIP) /Contract Instructor NFO (CIN) to provide instruction in associated simulators for our E-2C/D flight simulator effort at NBVC Point Mugu, CA. A current TOP SECRET Security Clearance is required. Proof of COVID vaccination (as mandated by Executive Order 14042) is also required.

Job duties and responsibilities include but non limited to

  • Brief/Debrief students under instruction in the classroom and in a motion/non-motion flight simulator environment.
  • Lecture in an instructor-led classroom environment.
  • Evaluate students under instruction in a flight simulator.
  • Operate a full-motion/non-motion flight simulator.
  • Prepare executive summaries at the conclusion of a course.
  • Manage an assigned course for updates/modifications/recommendations to the Curriculum Development Department.
  • Obtain NATOPS qualification as a CSI (contract simulator instructor) and maintain that status annually.
  • Administer check rides to students for NATOPS/Instrument qualifications.
  • Report to the Site Manager.

Experience:

CIP

  • Be or have been an E-2/C-2 Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) qualified pilot or have been an E-2/C-2 simulator instructor (pilot) within the previous five (5) years;
  • Have been designated a Carrier Aircraft Plane Commander (CAPC) in the E-2 or Carrier Transport Plane Commander (CTPC) in the C-2 (i.e. level 300 Air Combat Training Continuum (ACTC) qualification or greater);
  • Not have had any punitive actions on their record that resulted in termination of their flight status (i.e. Field Naval Aviator Evaluation Board (FNAEB) resulting in a type B classification); and
  • Have a minimum of eight hundred (800) flying hours in the E-2/C-2

CIN

  • A CIN must be or have been an E-2 NATOPS qualified Naval Flight Officer (NFO) within the preceding five (5) years or have been an E-2 simulator instructor (NFO) or CIN within the previous five (5) years.
  • A CIN must have, at a minimum, been a designated E-2 Combat Information Center Officer (CICO) (i.e. level 300 Air Combat Training Continuum (ACTC) qualification or greater).
  • A CIN shall not have had any punitive actions on their record that resulted in termination of their flight status (i.e. FNAEB resulting in a type B classification).

Education/Certifications

  • Four-year College degree required.
  • Knowledgeable of Department of Defense (DOD) rules and regulations governing aircraft operation.
  • Successfully complete NATOPS Open-Book, Closed-Book, and boldface exams annually;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the E-2C/D mission, crew procedures, tactics and threat systems/tactics; and
  • Renew NATOPS certification with an E-2 pilot or NFO qualified to give NATOPS evaluations.
