Children’s State-Operated Living Alternatives (SOLA) within the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) has an opportunity for a Direct Care Provider Lead. In this role, you'll be a shift charge and take lead in providing care for children with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities who may exhibit challenging behaviors.

We need your passion, skills, and positive attitude to provide support, personal care, supervision, and training to children in their homes. Each of our clients has unique support needs. Your support may include teaching daily living skills, performing personal care and household tasks, facilitating community integration and relationship building, as well as assisting with medication administration and managing behaviors.

  • Take lead in providing specialized care, support, coaching, and mentoring to children with developmental disabilities.
  • Implement individualized behavior support plans and take lead in handling behavioral challenges on your shift.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and verbal feedback to Direct Care providers on your shift.
  • Monitor staff and ensure that care is provided according to each individual’s care plan
  • Ensure all care, health, safety, and environmental issues are communicated timely and appropriately.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in behavior as well as in physical and mental conditions.
  • Transport and accompany clients to various appointments and community outings.
  • Review, collect, and record participant information and report information that is vital and/or pertinent to home management
  • Utilize an electronic data system to maintain client records and other reports


What we are looking for:

Professionals with a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and at least two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities within:


  • Behavioral Health facilities
  • Nursing Homes
  • Mental Health facilities
  • Hospitals
  • Residential settings


Or, two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1


Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience working with individuals, especially children and youth, with intellectual disabilities is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to promote and maintain a positive reinforcing environment
  • Positive Leadership Skills
  • Ability and willingness to work with children with developmental disabilities and mental illness who may exhibit challenging behavior.
  • Strong work ethic, with a collaborative mindset
  • Demonstrated understanding and competence in all aspects of Therapeutic Options training in daily work assignments
