Social Services Case Aide / Social Service Specialist 2
The Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA), Adult Protective Services is currently seeking Social Service Case Aide to join our dedicated Social Service Specialist Investigator team. This announcement is for an opportunity located in Moses Lake.
In this role, you will perform routine social service functions related to investigations of abandonment, abuse, neglect, financial/personal exploitation, and self-neglect of vulnerable adults. This full-time job involves a hybrid work schedule with occasional in-office work and travel throughout the region. This is a limited-duration project. The funding for this job is expected to last until June 30, 2025.
You will support APS Investigator staff and assist with investigative activities, such as obtaining and gathering evidence, making referrals, arranging for protective services, and conducting risk and safety screening, Also, you will interview people, coordinate with community partners on services and referrals, and monitor to verify services are in place. The community relationships that you build, coordination of resources, and your knowledge, dedication, and compassion of others will help us transform lives.
Some of what you will do
Interview clients, family members, and community partners to determine needs, screen for risk and safety, make referrals, facilitate initiation of services, and arrange for appointments- Make referrals for community services with agencies to begin services, coordinate access, and assist in the completion of applications
- Monitor progress of referrals, address any barriers and confirm the start of services
- Coordinate referrals for intervention or protective services, monitor progress, and address barriers to referrals
- Assist in obtaining information for supporting evidence by drafting professional correspondence to the alleged victim, alleged offender, financial institutions, providers, medical personnel, and law enforcement
- Coordinate and plan for a professional interpreter for clients who have limited English proficiency
- Participate in multi-disciplinary case staffing as well as staffing cases with higher-level Social Service Specialist investigators, supervisors, and program managers
Who should apply
Professionals with one of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, criminal law/justice, or an allied field; + 2 years of paid social service experience performing functions equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 1
- Or, a master’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, criminal law/justice, or an allied field + one year of paid social service experience equivalent to a Social Service Specialist 1.
- Or, a 2-year master’s degree in one of the above fields that include a practicum
- Or, a combination of education and/or work experience in social services, human services, criminal law/justice, or an allied field totaling 5 years will substitute in lieu of BA degree
- Or, one year as a Social Service Specialist 1
Knowledge, skills, & abilities:
- Prioritize, multi-task, organize and triage workload
- Resolve conflicts or concerns between persons and groups with diverse personalities and differing goals
- Identify and evaluate social dynamics affecting client choice and decision making
- Word processing and data input
- Make decisions, sometimes in immediate safety situations, and take feedback to complete investigations/assessments in the homes and residences of clients
