Required:
* Valid Oregon driver license
* Good driving record (attach a copy of 5-year DMV print to the application)
* Not more than 1 driver improvement violation within the preceding 12 months or more than 2 within the preceding 24 months
* No drug or alcohol-related traffic violation, conviction or infraction within the preceding 5 years
* No driver's license suspension, cancellation, revocation or denial within the preceding 3 years
* Not have a conviction for any of the crimes listed in OAR 737-015-0070 (A criminal history check is required before beginning the training program)
* First Aid and CPR certification
* Completion of the Oregon Driver Education Instructor Training program (Training program requirements include having valid driving privileges for 3 or more years and being 21 years of age or older. 120 to 150 hours training and study time. Tuition and travel expenses for training will be provided for hired applicants. A stipend for the training time will be given to successful completed in their 6 month anniversary paycheck)
* Work independently and be self-directed, schedule will include evening and weekend hours
* Work cooperatively with teens and their parents
* Complete all paperwork with care to detail
* Maintain a positive attitude under stressful situations
Summary:
This position falls under the guidance and regulations of the Oregon Department of Transportation. Instructors play an integral role in student success in this program. Success is defined at; students adopting safe driving habits, learning driver etiquette, understanding one's vehicle, anticipating situations that may turn dangerous, and completing all applicable lessons and tests.
Duties Include:
* Provide behind the wheel training for ages 15 and above
* Work cooperatively with students and their parents
* Prepare and instruction classroom lessons according to approved syllabus and curriculum
* Document students' attendance and progress
* Assist in the management of the Driver Education vehicles
* Participates in curriculum planning and development as needed
* Represent the Department and the college to the community, business, public agencies, and other organizations in a professional manner
* Responsible for departmental equipment and provides for the security of facilities and instructional materials as appropriate to the department
Schedule:
* Autumn and Spring - Weekday evenings and Saturdays
* Summer - Weekday daytime, evenings, and Saturdays
* Winter - Classes not held
