Bridger Drilling, the southeast's leading geotechnical and environmental drilling firm, is looking for a Drilling Assistant based in the Rockingham, NC area. Your crew will typically return home each night. However, they may be some overnight travel.

Founded in 1983, we are a diverse family of drillers with an equally diverse fleet of drill rigs. Our clients are engineering firms that appreciate our deep expertise, skilled professional drillers and diverse fleet of specialized equipment that deliver jobs well done.

We are looking for a hands-on person who enjoys working outside and a change of jobsite regularly. The job generally consists of the following:

• Meet up with the driller in the morning and mobilize in the truck to the jobsite.
• Safety talk about the specific scope and site.
• Perform recognizance of the site to confirm the boring locations, access challenges, and availability of water. Sometimes we are drilling at an existing parking lot and sometimes it may be a farm field or wooded area.
• Unload the drill rig and setup on the boring location to drill a vertical soil boring while collecting data for the engineer. Then move the rig to the next boring location. Boring depths range from 5 feet to 150 feet. The soil conditions are different at every site and each boring location, which is really interesting. Drilling techniques must change depending on soil conditions.
• Drilling on a site may be one day to one week. Then off to the next site and the next adventure.
• The soil samples and data that we collect are utilized by engineers and scientists before a structure is built to determine what type of foundation is required, if the soil is suitable for fill material, or how to design for stormwater management.
