CLASSIFICATION: District Engineer

SUMMARY: Under general direction of the General Manager, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department, Laboratory Department and Collections & Maintenance Departments; manages the District’s Capital Improvement Program, Collections System Master Plan, and various engineering and asset management projects and programs from evaluation through design and construction. The incumbent supervises the Engineering Technicians, Maintenance Supervisor and Laboratory Supervisor. Incumbent coordinates activities with other District officials, departments, outside agencies, organizations, and the public.

SALARY: District Engineer $8,312.63 - $10,609.26 per month (Range 925 “A” step through “Y” step)
4% salary increase effective July 3, 2023
*Up to 7.5% wage rate increase for additional certification pay

REQUIREMENTS: Possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license at time of appointment. Possess and maintain a valid registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California. Minimum of five years of professional level engineering experience in a water, wastewater, or public works related setting, including two years of supervisory experience. Experience in a public setting is desirable.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college with major coursework in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or Sanitary Engineering or closely related field.

BENEFITS: Twelve paid holidays per year. Paid vacation (increases with length of service). One day per month accrued for paid sick leave. Health, dental and vision insurance partial paid by District for employee only; dependent coverage available paid by employee. Life insurance for employee paid by District. CalPERS 2% at 62 retirement system instead of Federal Social Security. Employees hired after February 9, 2012 will pay 100% of the employee contribution/share required to participate in CalPERS.
