Director, Perimeter Security Operations

The Role

As a leader in the Perimeter Security Operations group, you will be responsible for leading a distributed team that demonstrates a variety of security platforms to develop, test, and deploy security content to protect Fidelity’s key digital assets against the latest Cyber threats. Leveraging threat intelligence of cyber attackers’ techniques, tactics, and procedures, you will identify the appropriate control points to protect against cyber attacks, both internal and external.

This role will provide strategic and day to day leadership to a team of Perimeter Security experts passionate about: maintaining operational stability, improving operational efficiency, and proactive risk reduction. The ideal candidate is a strong and expert people leader, who knows how to build and empower hard-working teams and individuals and help them grow to their potential.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Significant experience in cybersecurity operational roles (Incident Response, Threat Intel, Vulnerability Management, Countermeasures, and Internal Threat)
  • Broad knowledge of perimeter security operations technology to include web application firewalls, Network IDS/IPS, Cloud, and Email Security.
  • Industry certifications like CISSP, Security +, SANS GIAC Incident Handler, and certifications related to key platforms (Microsoft 365, Akamai, Sourcefire, FireEye, AWS)
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead response activities during security incidents
  • Experience leading a distributed team that provides 24x7 operational support and excellent service delivery
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, will interact with multi-functional management including the executive team
  • Your ability to promote a culture of collaboration and partnership across organizational and regional boundaries, with the ability to initiate and handle change.
  • You have the ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • The ability to communicate optimally with business partners, being able to translate security risk to non-technical audiences and to understand and balance business risk and security risk.
  • Provide active direction, periodically review team results, and identify and implement adjustments to ensure achievement of team goals and planned outcome while supplying to the overall business strategy
  • Ensure alignment between business strategy and direction. Support strategic technology planning by identifying, tracking, and experimenting with new and potentially groundbreaking technologies
  • Demonstrate an ability to translate business trends and strategies into technical services and solutions as it relates to Perimeter Security planning and business imperatives
  • Build compelling strategic visions for Information Security Management and see them through to fruition by influencing senior leaders and other collaborators
  • Leading a global operations team responsible for responding to security incidents, assembling the relevant supporting data, and taking the appropriate escalation or action
  • Building a highly capable team by hiring, training, and developing associates.
  • Establishing an operational performance review capability to ensure operational efficiency
  • Preparing metrics and reporting for business unit and overall security group consumption
  • Partnering with Legal, HR, and Business Unit ISOs to promptly and optimally resolve escalated incidents to ensure the protection of Fidelity.
  • You have customer-oriented focus, with a strong curiosity about satisfied team members
  • You are comfortable in explaining sophisticated issues in non-technical terms.

The Team

The Perimeter Security Operations team protects Fidelity’s systems and data from both external and internal threats by leveraging Cyber platforms to improve our security posture to restrict access, detect, supervise and block malicious/unintentional actions, while enabling security operations processes and providing education to end users. We collaborate with internal business units to minimize the impact of security controls on business operations and improve control efficiency. We partner closely with other Cyber Operations teams to identify the most serious active and potential threats and develop solutions to reduce the likelihood and impact of cyber attacks.
